Our Organic Guatemalan coffee shines with tropical fruit flavors and subtle apple notes that pop as the cup cools. The acidity is soft with hints of berry and orange flavors that are offset by a lovely chocolate body.

This Organic Guatemalan coffee shows off a buttery sweetness rounded with almond and toffee. More like almond brittle candy with an apple-like acidity that pops as the coffee cools. A smooth and balanced gourmet coffee with a soft acidity and a creamy nutty mouthfeel. Delicious to the last drop.

ORGANIC GUATEMALA ATITLAN

LA VOZ CO-OPERATIVE

Guatemalan highlands are renowned for their distinct and delicious coffees. This Organic, Fair trade certified coffee is no exception. It is farmed by members of the La Voz Co-op, on the shores of Lake Atitlan, about 1,600 meters above sea level. The co-op is nestled into the side of the mountain, which rises up dramatically from the valley to the sky. Winding paths are carved between the coffee plants and the farms are shaded by large trees overhead.

Established in 1977, La Voz is a small farmer cooperative comprised of roughly 161 members, of which 61 are women. Farmers grow this coffee in rich and fertile volcanic soils under a canopy of shade trees. The region enjoys cool climate, amply rain, and mineral rich soils deposits from the Atitlán, Toliman and the San Pedro Volcano. These ideal conditions generally produce a slow-maturing, larger bean with richer and complex flavors.

La Voz takes great pride in its ability to control quality at every step of the production process. Manager Andrés believes the quality of La-Voz’s coffee begins with work in the fields, and is supported by the co-op’s efficient processing methods. The co-operative has a central wet mill where coffee is processed from cherry to parchment, and all of the work is done by hand and naturally.

In line with its sustainability standards, La Voz is involved in community initiatives that aim to provide healthcare benefits and better schools for the community and its members. In addition, the co-op supports its members in securing additional revenue sources through apiculture and a women’s weaving cooperative.
